BUILT FOR HIGH-SPEED RESPONDERS
A modern, athletic boot designed for first responders, the Nike Special Field Men's Boot was engineered to the specifications of world-class heroes, from military professionals to rescue and law enforcement personnel. The result: the lightest, fastest-drying, highest-mobility performance boot Nike has ever made.
First responders are athletes in every sense of the word, but their moves are infinitely more vital. To meet their intense physical demands, the Nike SFB was built with the latest athletic footwear technology. Parts of the forefoot are puncture- and laceration-resistant, while the midsole is super-cushioned and extra flexible, ensuring a smooth heel-to-toe transition. The directional-traction outsole features reverse edges and a slightly raised heel for better grip when walking and running downhill.
Synthetic leather overlays make the Nike SFB tough yet flexible, requiring no break-in period. It's comfortable right out of the box. The sturdy outer shell creates a snug fit, protects against scuffing, and helps keep water out, while the anatomical sockliner moves easily with the foot and adds support and cushioning. A special lock-lace system helps keep the foot in place and maintain a comfortable, customized fit during extended wear.
The Nike Special Field Boot is made for hot weather. Breathable, quick-drying fibers work to keep the foot comfortable in warm conditions, and sweat-wicking materials help the boot dry out fast.
Design OriginsDuring World War II, Nike Co-Founder Bill Bowerman served as a member of the 10th Mountain Division in Italy. Upon his return, he became the head track and field coach at his alma mater, the University of Oregon. It was there that he honed a gift for creating high-performance footwear for his athletes. This boot is a realization of both of Bowerman's worlds.
This pair of boots was my first pair bought outside of Basic Military Training, and I must say I'm rather impressed. I wasn't able to find my size (8) in stock on nike.com, so I purchased them elsewhere, however they are still the same product. They are a very comfortable wear, but I had one issue with them. The insole seemed a bit stiff, and had a slightly high, uncomfortable arch at the ball of the foot. I did purchase new insoles for this reason, and that made them feel a lot better. The boots fit very well, and conform to your feet where needed to help prevent blisters/sores that initial-issue boots may provide. I'm not sure about the durability considering the fact that I just received them today, but they seem to be in great condition upon arrival. I'm definitely very satisfied with my boots, and can't wait to try them out in training!
Good fit comfortable boots would have given higher rating for durable but haven't had long
I'm a DoD contractor and I work in Desert environments. So far the boot was very comfortable from day one. However after a couple months of wearing them the toe on one of the boots is showing a little bit of separation and it has a bubble in the rubber. Aside from that I think it's a well put together boot for max comfort as I'm able to wear the boots daily for 12+ hours. The breathabilty is great due to the fact the weather here can reach 120+ degrees farenheit and I'm able to wear all day with no issues. I just wish I wasn't having this issue with the toe box on one of the boots.
