BUILT FOR THE TACTICAL ATHLETE
A modern, athletic boot designed for first responders, the Nike SFB Field 8" Men's Boot features a breathable canvas and durable synthetic upper with a dynamic lacing system for ultra-lightweight comfort and lockdown. The outsole is equipped with an aggressive traction pattern and internal rock shield for multi-surface grip and puncture protection.
First responders are athletes in every sense of the word, but their moves are infinitely more vital. To meet their intense physical demands, the Nike SFB was built with the latest athletic footwear technology. Parts of the forefoot are puncture- and laceration-resistant, while the midsole is super-cushioned and extra flexible, ensuring a smooth heel-to-toe transition. The rubber outsole features reverse edges and a slightly raised heel for better grip when walking and running downhill.
A dynamic lacing system helps keep the foot in place and maintains a comfortable, customized fit during extended wear.
The Nike Special Field Boot is made with breathable, quick-drying fibers to keep the foot comfortable in warm conditions.
Design OriginsDuring World War II, Nike Co-Founder Bill Bowerman served as a member of the 10th Mountain Division in Italy. Upon his return, he became the head track and field coach at his alma mater, the University of Oregon. It was there that he honed a gift for creating high-performance footwear for his athletes. This boot is a realization of both of Bowerman's worlds.
Great boots. Order half a size bigger than regular jordans or regular nike shoes.
I have 2 pairs of these boots and love them both. One for duty and the other for every day where. They feel like tennis shoes and work like boots. Amazing product. The ONLY gripe I have is that Nike needs to make this boot on wide sizes.
After extensive field testing dating back to late 2013 over two pairs of these boots, I have to say they are excellent with one minor flaw. Lets start with the good; the outsole is a lot more durable than its previous version and just as comfortable, the lacing system is great and doesn't cut into the tops of my feet, the way the heel cup is slightly slanted inward allows my heel to stay locked in without any slip. Now for the one flaw that just made me go back to wearing the Gen1 SFB's; the lacing system integrates a leather 'flap' that runs along the inside of the boot almost directly against the foot. I found that during long rucks, and days in the field, this 'flap' can increasingly irritate the foot when the boot is tightened all the way. On a side note, the irritation experienced was only on the outside of the feet, this 'flap' didn't seem to be an issue on the inside of the foot. Anyway, I hope I'm not the only one who's experienced this discomfort. Maybe Nike will come out with an updated version of the SFB Field in the near future. I still prefer the Gen1 SFB's (Leather) and would also be highly interested in the SFB Mountain if it were compliant.
They run a bit small, and if you have big feet I would go a size up. The heel digs in and you'll have a blister within a day, especially if you are in the field or have to walk a lot. Still trying to break them in, already had them 2 weeks and still really tight
